RESEARCH INTERESTS
Carmen Bain’s research interests include the political economy of food and agriculture; renewable energy; gender, social change and development; and the social studies of science and technology. In terms of renewable energy, her research has focused on understanding the social dimensions of biofuels development in the US. One project, funded by the Department of Energy, examines the socio-economic and environmental impacts of ethanol development for rural communities the Midwest. Results from this work have been published in Biomass and Bioenergy.
